Any site does not grow unless and until it maintains constant input of quality content. To promote the content, it should be really easy to manage content from the back end. To avoid the pitfall and over burden of work flows we decide to use Umbraco as our content management system.

There were so many factors in favour of Umbraco and very little against it. So it was not very tough decision to go with Umbraco as CMS solutions for this project. In addition to this, it was open source and FREE!!! with great active community.

In addition to these advantages Umbraco was very stable product and had great framework based on .net technologies. At the time of writing this article, it was top downloaded CMS on the Windows web installer on site.

Being a non commercial nature of site we had a great inclination toward PHP Zend and mojo Portal CMS, But after considering all the options and comparing on one to one basis, Umbraco was clear winner.

While choosing CMS it is not about numbers of installations running in the market, but what are the advantages provided by a CMS system are more important. Umbraco uses similar concept as Asp.Net applications; It incorporate Master pages templating and XML based cache. We had a choice to deploy with any database.

Umbraco have a very clean admin UI. What we most like was the content creation via word, live writer or even in canvas is possible. The biggest advantage of integration with office system was spell check feature, as we want to maintain quality of content.

Well what else we can say about a great product. We are confident that we have made a great choice for our site. Congratulations! Umbraco, you deserve a salutation.
